Hungarian Foreign Minister Denounces EU Sanctions on Belarus

On Monday, Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs Peter Szijjarto criticized European sanctions against Belarus, calling them ineffective and stating that they only complicate life for the people in the country. "As an EU member, I regret to see that the European Union, analyzing the situation in Belarus, is making decisions only about increasing sanctions. I suppose this will not lead to success and will not lead to the Belarusian people starting to live better," said Peter Szijjarto. The minister also noted that after the introduction of sanctions, a country in such a position as Belarus becomes more dependent on Russia. Peter Szijjarto expressed the opinion that instead of increasing pressure on Minsk, Europe should seek ways for dialogue and cooperation.
